This
first class of graduates that Hogwarts has seen since the school was burned
down, has finally left usto go onto bigger and better things. The attitude they
possessed seemed not to be altogether wistful, but rather optimistic for the
future.
But, even as they look to the future, the past is never far behind in their
thoughts. Many can still recall the fear of being sorted and their first days at
Hogwarts quite vividly.
“I was nervous when I went up to the stool, not really knowing what to expect,
but the hat wasn't on my head for a very long time at all when it shouted out
Gryffindor,” said Juliana Wood, a 21-year-old Gryffindor graduate. “What it
said to me made extreme sense and before I knew it, I was sitting at the
Gyffindor table. I wasn't exactly suprised because I've always thought myself to
be quite a bit like my father, but I still wondered if I would fit in. It only
took me a short time to realize though that there wasn't anywhere else I'd
rather be.”
The ceremony was brief but heartfelt, with Head Boy and Girl Justin Fitzpatrick
and Cassandra Kilsby-Steele giving speeches to the rest of their class.
“Seven Years,” Kilsby-Steele’s speech began, “The good times have been good, the
bad times have been... many, and I'm quite surprised that we're all still here.
Seven Years; the first class after the rebuilding. We've had hitches with trying
to rebuild the system, but Gee Whizz, look around, I think we've done it.”
HEx sat down with some of these graduates recently to talk about their plans for
the futures as well as their memories of the past.
